Even if the media, here in Italy, have tried to utterly change the meaning of your fighting, passing it off as a statement of national superiority, useful to the masterplan of power, that here in Italy, more than in every part of Europe, is trying to impose an authoritarian drift, a xenophobic and racist one, we never doubt that the ancient internationalist spirit, which has always lived in the workers of the United Kingdom, had ever ceased to be strong. A personal embrace in memory of the common committment of solidarity towards the Yugoslavian people, striked by the ferocity of international capitalism through local nationalism, and of the example given by English miners and Yugoslavian miners who gave me the possibility, as the person in charge of the Ship to Bosnia operation, to write together with so many comrades, a bright page of internationalism. |
